Braveheart Shipping commissions two No Limit ship

Christening and putting into use of the Freedom and Libertas

Urk, 2 March 2009
On Friday 27 February, the Freedom and Libertas were commissioned by Braveheart Shipping. The festive ceremony took place on Urk and was attended by many business relations of the company.

After a word of welcome by Jelle Hakvoort, director and owner of Braveheart Shipping, the ceremony took place, after which the interested were able to sail both ships. Then, Jelle Hakvoort, in cooperation with Jeroen van Reenen of Port of Rotterdam, gave a short explanation of the project and the activities the ships will be used for.

Since 2005, Braveheart Shipping has been sailing the "Spirit", No Limit 1500, as hydrographic survey vessel for Port of Rotterdam. Because of the positive experiences, the assignment - and with that the actitivities for the second Maasvlakte - was extended. The need for a bigger capacity, led Hakvoort to buy a second and third No Limit to perform the assignment optimally.

The Freedom is a ship built from the beginning to conduct hydrographic survey activities for Braveheart Shipping. The Libertas on the other hand, is a ship initially built for a private owner in Germany. After having been a private possession for three years, it was bought by Braveheart Shipping and provided with, among other things, a multi-beam system. This system allows the ship to conduct 3D measures simultaneously, quickly and accurately on a large surface.

"The Freedom and Libertas, No Limits 1640 and 1750 respectively, are an asset to our company. We chose this type of ship because of her tested (level) speed, sea worthiness and small required crew, with an economic advantage as a result. The No Limit delivers a modern piece of technology that books success in hydrographic research and is very convenient for the activities to expand Maasvlakte 2 (of which PUMA is the main supplier). We are very proud that Port of Rotterdam chooses the services of Braveheart Shipping and No Limit ships because of the great qualities for hydrographic research", says Hakvoort.

Braveheart Shipping BV is a young and dynamic company, situated on Urk. It mainly specializes in hydrographic and seismic research and survey activities. Currently, Braveheart Shipping has five ships sailing for several clients. Each ship is equipped with the latest technologies. Clients include Coast of Delfland, Port of Rotterdam (Hydrographic Department), Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, Van Oord Nederland NV and PUMA.
